Yup, I did.

When I was about three or so, we lived in an apartment on Broadway, in the South Bronx. A nice section of the Bronx called Riverdale. Well, apparently one Christmas, I got this fire truck. This was 1970 or so, so toys were still big and made of actual metal, not formed plastic.

I was a rambunctious kid, and did a lot of rambunctious kid stuff, like running around and going crazy because it was, you know, Christmas. Well, anyway, this fire truck, which was cool, but made of metal, had a jagged part. And I fell down on it, and sliced my ear open pretty good. Wound up in Emergency. Needed stitches. A plastic surgeon had to look at the ear. That was fun. I think maybe I woke up on the table, too, and probably gave the doctor and my dad a fright.

By way of contrast, tonight I watched Night of the Iguana, which I taped off TCM, had a coffee with some accoutrements added in for flavoring and festivus, and changed my blog template.

On the whole, I gotta say I prefer this Christmas to the bullshit with the fucking truck.

Happy Christmas to everybody. Be gentle to each other.

And don't bitch out the template. I was bored, yo.

Merry Christmas, though I hope "merry" means slightly more than "not getting stitches." Vancouver, huh? Does this mean you will see the error of your ways and retract your past Vancouverist sentiments?

Hey DMc,

I will only say that after killing a couple bottles of champers with dinner, I thought maybe I'd had too much to drink when I logged on (pas possible, you might think, for an Irish girl). The new design looks nice. I do miss the bit about the ninjas in your blurb, though. And they might feel slighted at being dumped so I'd exercise some caution for the next while, just to be safe.

Christmas was pleasant but it just didn't feel very Christmas-y this year. It has been cool in other ways, like getting to spend it with my brother and sister, just we three (would have been perfect but for the fourth muskateer was in San Diego). And I got a really cool new digital camera and it's pink! So cute.

Merry Christmas to one and all in blogland. Hoping the rain doesn't turn into snow because I have to go clear across the city tomorrow.

Diane: I expect the moment I settle in into my Vancouver digs, I'll immediately begin complaining about Toronto like every other Vancouverite I've ever met.

Dixon, I had dream too. And you were there, and Henshaw, and Callaghan, and Diane and Jutra and KJC and Caroline, too...

And Caroline, I've never once suggested any value judgement about how an Irish girl holds her liquor. That's the fallacy of it. It's not how the Irish girl holds her liquor...

..it's where she holds it. Yow.
