When you're a staff writer -- that's your gig. 99% of people don't know anything about the writers - or care.
Matthew Weiner is the brand. You take a job on that show, you're there to support the brand.
You don't like it?
A) don't take the job. B) take the job and work really hard and be brilliant so that one day you get your own show and then the NYTimes Magazine comes to profile YOU and show what a weird neurotic writer you are.
