Now the reports are that the mock-doc series The Tournament, which followed a small town's kids hockey team, will also be axed.
On the one hand, I never really got into The Tournament. I thought there was a subtle disconnect in tone. Unlike The Office or Trailer Park Boys -- other examples of the faux doc genre -- The Tournament seemed implicitly to judge its characters -- which unbalances the whole thing and steals both the heart and the funny.
But Howard Busgang, one of the creators, is a guy who should have a series on CBC. Oh wait. He did -- it was called An American in Canada, and it was funny. CBC canceled it three years ago. Hmmm.
