JONAS CHERNICK, the adorable ur-geek Slade on my ex-show, THE BORDER, has been nominated for an ACTRA Award for his work on the show. (He won a Gemini for the same role last year.)
Nicholas Campbell -- who had a memorable recurring role in Season 2 -- was also honored -- for his work in Englishman's Boy.
Best Actress nominations include a third Border-thesp, Sarah Gadon (Zoe Kessler) - who's honored for her guest shot on CTV's Flashpoint.
The ACTRA Awards are Canada's equivalent to the SAG Awards. It's a very, very pretty party.
Congrats to Jonas, Nick, Sarah, and all the other fine performer nominees.
The Awards will be handed out February 20th.

Not quite. Not to take anything away from Jonas but the voting is pretty dicey and the awards are not really taken seriously.
Yes yes yes, because it's Canada and we all live lives of quiet passive aggressive desperation and nobody's more passive aggressive and bitchy than actors...
Fact is, just as the Geminis are the equivalent to the Emmy's, so too are the ACTRA Awards equivalent to the SAG awards.
Just because there's all sorts of fighting and people complain a lot and have to be negative don't make it so.
If you win, it's still an achievement.
And all awards voting -- everywhere -- is pretty dicey.
