Oh sure, I didn't hold out a lot of hope for VERONICA MARS, but still...a few years from now, when Kristen Bell is a much bigger star off much lesser material, there will be no comfort. I still sort of resent the whole post-MY SO CALLED LIFE career of Claire Danes.
I'm sorry to see that JERICHO went, too, as I think scheduling killed that show, and now they have to pay the sins of the new reality of the TV business:

If that lesson is learned, then maybe Jericho will not have died in vain. Not holding my breath, though.
Many people told me THE CLASS was worth another look, but I never got around to it. And now I don't have to.
I can't say I'm too impressed by the Vampire P.I. series going in after Ghost Whisperer on CBS. Besides the fact that I've seen that show a million times, and even worked on a show that tried to give that premise a fresh spin, I read the pilot. And it was meh.
The fact that I know I'm going to love VIVA LAUGHLIN (I loved the British original, BLACKPOOL) is tempered by the fact that I know it's going to be almost instantly canceled.
Josh Schwartz, two series. Woo. Hoo.
I don't think I can take two more seasons of 24. Jack Bauer, your show is tired. I SAID YOUR SHOW IS TIRED!
To tell you the truth, the only thing that got a smile from me was at least HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER got another season. That's fairly thin gruel.
And let's have a moment of silence for the writers who are currently, or will soon be, trying to come up with a second joke that could propel the Geico CAVEMEN past the 30 second mark.

I just had a thought. What if the CAVEMEN pickup is fake? Maybe -- just maybe -- ABC is going to put hidden cameras in that writers' room and all the offices and watch as the specially-cast writers slowly go insane and one by one by one commit ritual suicide.

it's a bit of a drag about jericho. it never lived up to its potential but was good enough to stay i thought.
as you pointed out, maybe the 10 week break for no reason hurt. Hard to say. Actually it's easy to say. It hurt. It hurt Heroes even.

As for the vampire PI comment. boy has that been done a couple of times. Forever Knight, Angel. Straight up the same vamp-detective. And heck even on BT Henry is gettng the PI bug. Way to be fresh and original CBS. then again, how much is fresh and original on TV these days.
maybe we should start a betting pool on which of the new shows on all the networks goes first, second etc. We'll tally up who gets the least of them right and he/she has to buy drinks.

Not quite sure that's a valid assumption as BATTLESTAR GALACTICA takes a break midseason. 10 episodes, a break, then 10 more episodes.
However, what they did do is release a DVD set during the break as well as some webisodes. So there's your answer -- keep the fans satisfied somehow. 24 did it with the first 4 episode arc DVD.
Maybe JERICHO should have put up some webisodes, released a webcomic or something to get people to "miss" the original content.
Otherwise what's the point of having all this web 2.0/ multi-tier stuff at your fingertips?
But Billy-yo, BSG did experience a ratings drop -- both last year, and this year, coming back from the break. And this is from a show with a supposedly very loyal audience.
I think cable might be a different beast, but more than that between the upped orders for stuff like Heroes and the data from the current season, I think you're going to see a whole lot more through the season scheduling like with 24 and a lot less, "heroes returns April 23."
I've also heard rumor that next season might be the last one for BSG.
Why's everyone so down on the Cavemen. I almost jumped for joy when I heard they were floating this as a potential series (although I could see it running out of steam somewhere down the line) as I find the Caveman ads really funny.
I think the Caveman ad with the Caveman on the moving sidewalk once again confronting prejudice and looking around desperately for someone who can see the same thing that he can in the poster strangely moving in that it in some strange way it says something meaningful about the way people are sometimes completely unaware that they are being racist.
If people are upset because an advertising spokesperson (or spokecaveperson in this case) is being given a series well, shit, kid's TV has been this way for a gillion years -- GI Joe, My Little Pony, Teen titans, the Transformers -- these are actual products that have their own shows. So I don't get the outrage -- it's a well worn road, not a knew thing.
Also since many movies have been little more than marketing opportunities for years -- Pirates of the Carribean, a series of three movies about a disney ride -- who cares about the genesis of the idea as long as the film is fun to watch.
TV has never been shy about loaning out its characters to advertisers -- fred and barney hacking down Winstons for example -- and one could argue that that practice is even more evil (get the audience to like a character, THEN turn him into a shill for a product) than what they are doing with the Caveman.

Let's see - a bunch of American remakes of great Brit Tv don't get picked up (because in one case the rumor was ESPN was worried about the fall out) but Caveman does. I am done - boycotting ABC from now on.
Oh and is it me or is the show about the guy who can bring people back alive long enough to help solve their murder not the premise of the Torchwood pilot also in the UK.
ugh! Color me disappointed with the new crop of offerings except for Bionic Woman. Battlestar rocks so I count on David to make the BW remake rock too

I'm wondering if you can voice your thoughts on Heroes Origins that NBC announced they're going to do during the summer. (I think they said summer.) I personally think it's too soon for a spin-off reality show type show.
Oh, about the Caveman show, I'd give it a try, I'm curious to see how the conversation continued during the therapy session when he said, "It's my mother, I'll put her on speaker." Though, I must admit, I don't see much hope in the way of plot. But by god, if they start to make a series about the Afflec duck, I might have to take up duck hunting.

Have to agree with Blueglow on this one. If they make some relatively well rounded characters, this show has some degree of potential. I love how people discount good shows from a premise or the cover. I didn't the same with BSG and regret every minute that I now have to play catch up.
I mean, I did the same with BSG, judged it from the first couple minutes. I was tainted by fanness in the form of my fiancee at the time.
