Well, in about 36 hours I'm going to have 11 sweaty, stinky men in my condo ready for Chili, Poker, and Grey Cup action. That's three down football, motherfuckers. You Americans don't know what you're missing. I don't even organize it. That's done by someone else. They just show up at my place. I just have to buy buns and salad.
Til then, though...I'm working on something on Daybreak, which I enjoyed and got me thinking about a particular topic.
The eagle eyed among you may have noticed my luxurious postings of late, and gotten used to it. Don't. Got big heap scriptwriting next week.
But I'm also trolling for comment and questions. Topic suggestions, questions, general omnibus whines, all accepted in the comment thread below. Throw me a fish and I eat for a day. Teach me to fish and we all get mercury poisoning together...

"I just have to buy buns and salad."
Isn't that slang for something?
I want to say I'd read you writing about the phone book and have no demands to make, but what about reading that Everything Bad is Good for You book and posting your thoughts on what it has to say? I've even got a copy I can send you. But no pressure. Just because I've asked twice now. I can take rejection. Sort of.
Salad? At a Grey Cup party? Really? Are you sure there are no women going? I thought it was all about the junk food. Or is Will right and that is code for something else?
As for the posting ... sure, lull us into a false sense of security and then pull the rug out. Meanie.
I have a topic suggestion that could spawn several posts .. I'd love to see your take on the major networks (US, Canadian or both, take your pick) and evaluate their program moves so far in the season, maybe re-cap where we will start from again in January and make some new year's predictions. That's all ;-)
I think "bun" is slang for an Asian trany stripper, and "salad" is slang for a Gerard Depardieu look alike.
You ol' dog.
Play safe.
Okay - Jutra just made me spit take... very nice (saw Borat this eve)
Who are the sweaty, stinky boys rooting for? Or does it matter?
Sadly, indeed there is chili and salad.
Not only that, but there's also veggie chili.
When you play with actors and writers, some of whom run marathons and some who are black belts, you just kind of have to go with it.
I'm rooting for whoever I've got in the spread in the pool.
How about this for a topic:
has there ever been something, like a tv show or movie and let's say comedy, that you just didn't get. It's hugely popular, friends whom you respect rave and yet you just don't see it. You're not jealous or bitter, or you are but that's beside the point, you just don't get it.
An example: when I first moved to Toronto back in 1988 to try my hand at the fickle and ugly mistress of stand-up comedy, everyone at least the stand-ups, were raving about Ren and Stimpy. So one day I watched it. And I didn't get it. Not even a little bit. I thought i was finished in comedy. It didn't make me laugh even a bit. I was ashamed to admit it. And yes, I saw the ones that the real guy did, not the lame ones that came after he quit.
So I'm not talking about things you don't like as much as others but still think are pretty good (the Family Guy for me). I'm talking about things that you are told are funny and you just don't see it. Not even a little bit.
What do you think, Denis? You could write a way better example than mine, I'm sure.
Or we could talk about simulcasts.
Okay - here's a tough one. You wake up tomorrow and find you've been hired as head of programming or even head of development for CBC, CTV or Global (pick a network) and you are given the task of getting at least one hit dramatic series and one hit comedy from Canada on the air by next fall. And let's not define hit as simply rating numbers (i.e. a miilion viewers weekly) - a series that's getting modest numbers but has good buzz or word of mouth or is branding you in some cool or positive way is acceptable.
What kinds of shows do you put into development/production? Who is starring in them? Who's making them and are you partnering (US or elsewhere)?
If that just sounds like too big a headache, I'll make it a little easier...what about same job for a Canadian specialty or cable channel equivilent?
Or we could analyze the Leafs.
Tangenting off Will's last post ... Slice vs. W. What would you pitch to what network. I am Slice's frackin' target demo and I'm still trying to wrap my head around "my vice is Slice" so I'd love to hear what you all have to say as I struggle to come up with stuff to pitch them (I'll co-produce!).
Did I mention I am under house arrest for a couple of days with pink eye?! Seriously. See what happens when I hang out with kids? Disaster. Anyhow, I need diversion, people! Help a girl out.
And you didn't invite me. Bastard.
