If Jonathan Demme won one, would it be an Emmy-Demme?

MY FAVORITE THINGS about the 2008 Emmy Award nominations:

The fact that Jimmy Kimmel Live was nominated for Music and Lyrics for "I'm Fucking Matt Damon."

The fact that four out of five Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series noms went to 30 Rock.

The fact that three out of five Best Drama Series noms are Basic Cable Channel shows -- not network, not pay cable, but basic cable channel shows . (Hmm, what do you make of that if you've got an anemic acquisition-only Canadian cable channel?)

The fact that The Wire goes perfectly into that good night having never gotten an ounce of Best Drama love, guaranteeing that people will be howling about that for years.

The fact that Andromeda Strain got a Best Miniseries nom even though nobody seems to have liked it very much. (I guess it doesn't just happen at the Geminis...)

The fact that there are now separate categories for Best Reality Program and Best Reality Competition Program. (I, for one, will sleep better tonight knowing that.)

The fact that all five nominations for Dramatic Series writing went to cable shows.

EDIT: so, what about you? Faves? Outrages? As FOTS (friend of the Sticks) G.C. points out, the fact that Mia Wasikowska didn't get a nom for her portrayal of Sophie on In Treatment while Diane Wiest... ehhhh.

Disappointed about The Wire, happy about Mad Men and shocked at the lack of women writers in the nomination lists.
